In 2024 Reuben Thompson sailed his self-designed and built Bermudan Whitehall open yawl from Ipswich around the south and west coasts of the British Isles and across the North Sea to Norway. He slept aboard his boat in coves and harbours. This photo shows his view from the boat when moored in Arisaig.
His final leg from Shetland to Norway was the most dramatic and he described the challenges of capsizing and sailing on through the night in an article in Dinghy Cruising 264. This amazing voyage earned him the 2024 Naylor Noggin, awarded for the most adventurous and well described dinghy cruise of the year.
